Cabin Fever

FOATW somethingIt was a frenzied fall 2015 birthing Rue St-Louis. Preparing the launch, getting the set together and doing the various things that one is supposed to do to promote an album left the tank pretty empty on all fronts – leaving us trying to figure out exactly where we are and what our appetite is for continuing on our little journey. Making music and releasing the records is what keeps us going as a band. Selling what we’re doing to the world is what drags it all down.

Probably a lot of bands feel this way. But one shouldn’t say it, the facade of indie success story in the making! must be maintained at all costs.

Well… Fuck that.

After the last two months of musical depression-spiral, sucked down the like and follow-holes of Friendbook, Spotify, et. al. I can confidently state that this project is on borrowed time if we look at it from the angle of key performance indicators.

My good friend Nicolas Huart always said that the best sign of musical success is the fact that you’re still at it. So we’ve decided it’s time to get back at it. We recorded RSTL in the summer of 2014. Since then we’ve been focused on mixing and mastering and practicing and promotion.

It was high time we got back to the heart of the matter, namely: musical exploration in remote rural locations. As such, we locked ourselves in a cabin in St-Elie to Caxton last weekend and got back to work. We even brought a few new toys. Where this will go? Nobody knows.
